· Cyber security is serious when it comes to digital/mobile banking, however sometimes one can be fooled into using an app for its functions, not realizing malicious code is waiting to change our lives. For blind people, we tend to search for apps that can make our situations more accessible, like (PDF & QR code readers). For the cyber thieves, they know that the low-vision and blind have issues with both (PDF & QR codes) so the low-vision and blind, along with seniors, are directly targeted. It’s your responsibility to review and get background information on any app before downloading to a device, if you don’t, bad things could and may happen. The below lists some basics to follow before downloading any app to your device:· Perform a search on the app and company for negative news, and Read the comments related to the app before downloading.· Check out the “blind community,” and see if anyone uses the app.· If the app is for a specific task/function, ask yourself “why would the app want my banking or any other sensitive information, if you are suspicious in any way, do not download it and report the app to the app store, and if your “sideloading,” apps to your device, well that’s on you!· For more about the Android/Google Play cyber warning for apps, activate the below link💡In case you missed it: Bank info-stealing malware found in 90+ Android apps with 5.5M installs | MashableTransforming AI-Robots are now here, can you say, “Optimist Prime!”
