Paschall Power Newsletter — Technology & Independence Feature
If 2025 was the year AI entered our smartphones, 2026 may be remembered as the year AI moved directly onto our faces. At Meta Connect 2026, Meta expanded its vision for wearable artificial intelligence with Muse, a new personal AI agent designed to work across phones, computers, and Meta’s growing lineup of smart glasses. Meta says Muse is designed to function more like a personal digital companion than a traditional voice assistant. This may become one of the most exciting accessibility developments of the year. Imagine standing in front of a grocery shelf and simply asking:
“What am I looking at?”
Instead of reaching for your phone, Muse can work directly through Meta’s smart glasses, identifying products, reading signs, describing visual information, and helping users better understand their surroundings through natural conversation. Students, travelers, shoppers, and professionals may all benefit from a truly hands-free access experience. The future of wearable accessibility has arrived.

Paschall Power Newsletter — Advocacy, Rights & Community Feature
For blind and low-vision Americans, voting is far more than a civic responsibility. It is a powerful opportunity to help shape the future of accessibility, independence, education, employment, and equal opportunity. Thanks to accessible voting technologies such as audio ballots, ballot-marking devices with speech output, tactile keypads, large-print displays, touchscreen accessibility features, and voter-verifiable paper ballot systems, millions of Americans who are blind can participate in elections with greater privacy and confidence than ever before. These advances, supported by laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Voting Rights Act, and the Help America Vote Act, have helped ensure that the voices of people with disabilities are included in the decisions that shape our nation. [ada.gov], [eac.gov] The leaders elected today will help determine how accessible tomorrow’s world becomes. From websites and mobile apps to educational technology, workplace software, healthcare systems, artificial intelligence, and self-service kiosks, accessibility is increasingly connected to every part of daily life. Recent federal accessibility requirements continue strengthening equal access to digital services, reflecting a growing understanding that participation in modern society depends on accessible technology. For the blind community, this means supporting efforts that expand access to education, employment, vocational training, assistive technology, and barrier-free digital experiences. As we look ahead, accessible voting remains one of the most important tools for creating lasting change. Every ballot cast helps influence the policies, resources, and opportunities available to future generations of blind and low-vision Americans. By staying informed, engaged, and committed to leaders who value accessibility and inclusion, our community can continue moving society toward a future where independence is expected, opportunity is equal, and accessibility is recognized not as a privilege, but as a fundamental civil right for all. It is time to honor our Paschall Power Star of the Month.

The Paschall Power Newsletter proudly honors Mrs. Constance Baker Motley.
Federal Judge: Constance Baker Motley

Gavel resting on block

attorney, civil rights pioneer, legislator, and historic federal judge. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Constance Baker Motley became one of the most influential legal minds of the Civil Rights Movement. After earning her law degree from Columbia Law School, she joined the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, where she worked closely with Thurgood Marshall and other legendary civil rights attorneys. Throughout her legal career, Judge Constance Baker Motley argued or worked on many of the most significant civil rights cases in American history. She played an instrumental role in the fight against segregation, helped advance school desegregation efforts following the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision, and represented civil rights activists throughout the South during one of the most turbulent periods in American history. Her accomplishments did not stop there. In 1964, she became the first Black woman elected to the New York State Senate. In 1966, she became the first Black woman appointed as a federal judge, serving on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Throughout her career, she consistently championed equal opportunity, civil rights protections, education, fairness, and justice for all Americans. Her story reminds us that determination, education, and courage can transform society. Her work opened doors not only for women and African Americans, but for future generations of advocates who continue fighting for accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunity today. “Something which we think is impossible now is not impossible in another decade.”
