Mr. Lewis Howard Latimer!Lewis Howard Latimer, worked with both Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell, historically we are taught to think that these men “invented the light bulb & telephone,” but wait a minute, not so fast! |

· Lewis Howard Latimer, born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, in 1848, was a pioneering Black inventor and draftsman whose contributions significantly shaped modern technology. Despite being the son of self-emancipated enslaved parents, Latimer overcame systemic barriers to become a key figure in the development of the light bulb and the telephone. His expertise in mechanical drawing led him to work closely with Alexander Graham Bell, drafting the necessary diagrams for Bell’s telephone patent. Later, Latimer joined Thomas Edison’s team, where he patented a method for producing carbon filaments, making light bulbs more durable and affordable. Brilliant black Americans like Lewis Howard Latimer , have been targets of “black history scrubbing,” these attempts to erase factual American history is an education failure and poses a significant threat to the recognition of Black inventors’ contributions in the 1800s and how they made it possible for tech we use today and around the world. This “Black history scrubbing,” further distorts historical truth, but also deprives future generations of inspiration and innovation; reserving and promoting the legacies of these inventors is essential, there are no” alternative facts to truth,” and history will always be uncovered in its fullness!· Activate the link below for more about the brilliant, Lewis Howard Latimer💡Lewis Howard Latimer: Biography, Inventor, Draftsman👌On behalf of the Paschall Power Newsletter team, we thank you for reading.
