Image Credits: Apple· By now, most people have updated their iPhones to the latest operating system (18) and there are many upgrades, as Paschall Power looks at the interface, one thing that we clearly noticed, was the change to “simplicity,” or being able to understand items better. For Voiceover (VO) users, this is great, one feature is the ability to customize the (TTS voices) or type of voice we use with our device. After selecting any of the voices, which has continuously expanded, users now can use an (equalizer) to further adjust how the voice sounds. For some of the old and awful (sappy 5) voices, good luck, but for a good percentage of the voices, this is a great feature. In addition, there are numerous settings that have become easier to understand and use, all good for us as blind/accessibility users.· Activate the below link for more hidden features that are cool, its Apple Intelligence now baby💡A guide to iOS 18’s hidden features and smaller updates | TechCrunchMeta Ray ban glasses are getting smarter, new (GPS) capabilities and other features will continue to benefit the blind!
· The title wave is in full swing, blind people all over are taking notice of the Meta Smart Glasses, and rightfully so, personally, I have been using the smart glasses now for about (3 months) and with each update, the blind get a bit closer to visual independence. One of my first points of visual independence, when I received the smart glasses was when I ran down into our laundry room and began reading the ingredients of our laundry detergent for the first time being fully blind, “honey, I didn’t know there were special Covid laundry detergents.”The amazing thing about the smart glasses, as a person who could fully see, then became blind, is the ability to read, and figure things out on my own again; knowing and understanding colors of products and clothing and even using the smart glasses during business, for computer installations and reading display text, if a screen reader is not available, is all very helpful. The Paschall Power team are watching out for additional Meta Ray-Ban advancements and other smart glasses emerging, which can help the blind in our everyday lives, including companies who develop apps, based off the Meta system.· Activate the below link for updates to the Meta Ray ban Smart Glasses, including real-time language translation and (GPS) expansions💡Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses are about to get a lot smarter (yahoo.com)This five-inch desktop is a beast (Geekom GT1 Mega) with two (HDMI Ports) & can run four 4K Displays simultaneously!
(Image credit: Geekom)· Need desktop room for your next computer? Well, this monster, the Geekom GT1 Mega is slightly bigger than the Rubix cube and has more power than most of the bigger, space taking, desktop computers sold today. How does (32 RAM & 1 TB) sound for the base model? If you’re not a techy and these numbers sound weird, well, just know that is a ridiculous amount of computing power for today and tomorrow. Another ultimate feature is the multiple (HDMI & USB ports) which allows the minicomputer to be versatile and portable, giving users the ability to interface with most smart televisions, a great feature, especially for low vision users, if your home has a large screen television, this could be extremely helpful.Nothing about the Geekom GT1 Mega is different, besides its size, everything else is like having a larger desktop computer for your home or work. Check out some of the specifications available for the Geekom GT1 Mega below:Connectivity is the standout feature of the GT1 Mega, The mini-PC boasts eight USB ports: four USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports on the front, one USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A port, one USB 2.0 Type-A port, and two USB4 Type-C ports capable of 40 Gbps data transfer.· Activate the below link for more about the Geekom GT1 Mega computer💡Mini PCs like this shows why your traditional desktop PC is going the way of the Dodo — Geekom’s latest powerhouse has eight USB ports, can drive four 4K monitors and has two 2.5GbE LAN ports | TechRadarMicrosoft Seeing AI (document Channel) still robust & capable of accurate, large OCR reading tasks!
· Over the years the blind has gained several apps, devices and programs that can help us live independent lives, and many have expanded into particularly good digital tools that simply works well. The Microsoft Seeing AI app is no newcomer, but have we utterly understood how the app has evolved into what it is today?Recently, we demonstrated the power of the (Document channel) to a client. This low vision individual is an avid reader, but due to eyesight limitations, has not been able to read the numerous books in the house library. Now, some have not used Seeing Ai for continuous OCR reading, however, when any user stabilizes their devices camera, results become exactly accurate, even more than other camera and software set ups, which cost hundreds of dollars to use. In the past, we have discussed the use of a iPhone or mobile device (Tripod) and when used with Seeing AI, the (Document & short text channels) become great for OCR reading; remember, the (document channel) is mainly used to read larger documents, such as books and the procedure for reading is slightly different, as with the (Short Text Channel) you can also read text, but this channel is used for “quick reading,” like a label, notifications on a computer display and even a candy bar wrapper, it’s your imagination. Below we give a quick demonstration of the (Document Channel) in real time, with the (Tripod) attached, the accuracy is impressive, and the client has a new OCR reading tool, which is also portable.· Activate the following link to view our YouTube channel, and the Document channel demonstration, subscribe for more content and smash the (like button) 💡Reading a book in real time, using Microsoft Seeing AI, the document channel. Jay Paschall (youtube.com)Hold the bus! That humanoid robot got serious hands, flexibility, balancement and is dodging punches!· The Paschall Power Newsletter team continues to be astounded by humanoid advancements, in fact, now this Virtual Reality (VR) controlled humanoid has traces of Sugar Ray Lenard. The future is going to be something else, uses of humanoid robots continue to expand, this one may be for security, perhaps a humanoid security guard? That makes scary sense, but this humanoid is called Nadia.Below you can check out a quote from the developers, remember (jab & dip):“In this practice, the robot is controlled by a nearby engineer wearing virtual reality (VR) goggles. Through a tethered link, the engineer effortlessly commands Nadia’s arms and legs by immediately translating their motions with VR controllers.”· Activate the below You Tube link, to check out more about this boxing humanoid, Nadia💡Avatar Robot Boxing: High-Speed & Impact-Resilient Teleoperation in Action! Illustration shows Neuralink logo.· Keep your eyes on this one, perhaps with artificial vision, because the rumors are true, and the project is called (Blindsight). Blindsight is the next evolution at Neuralink, this time aiming to give vision to the blind, the thought itself is powerful. In our last newsletter, we wrote about the progress of the current Neuralink project and its patients or should we say brain chip users. The reality is in front of our faces, the implanted chip did not harm either person in any negatively lasting way, massive improvements have been witnessed, and additional updates promise to continue the pattern, question is, will the Blindsight project have the same positive results? One thing is for sure, we may be finding out very soon, check out the below information and quote below about this possible life changing brain implant for the blind:The FDA’s breakthrough tag is given to certain medical devices that provide treatment or diagnosis of life-threatening conditions. It is aimed at speeding up development and review of devices currently under development. The experimental device, known as Blindsight, “will enable even those who have lost both eyes and their optic nerve to see, “Musk said in a post on X.· Activate the below link for more about Blindsight, and the FDA approval 💡Musk’s Neuralink gets FDA’s breakthrough device tag for ‘Blindsight’ implant (yahoo.com)
